1968 Freeborn Man Typewritten Correspondence (4 pages) re: Kenny Vernon/Happening - Personally Autographed to YOU by Mark
This is an ORIGINAL correspondence regarding FREEBORN MAN, from August and September 1968 between Boom Music (owned by Mark Lindsay), and Slim Williamson of Chart Records, concerning artist Kenny Vernon, who recorded the song. The Raiders' attorney's office secretary E. Sharon Kinney was the contact for Boom.
Skim founded Chart Records and was the person who discovered Lynn Anderson and Ronnie McDowell, and Kenny Vernon was in Merle Haggard's band as well as a solo artist.
The papers discuss the song licensing, a title typo, ad participation, and the possibility of Kenny performing on Happening '68. One of the documents is an original carbon of a note to Mark and Paul summarizing the correspondence. Each of the 3 letters measures 8-1/2" x 11" (2 original letters from Chart and a carbon of the Boom reply on lightweight yellow paper), and the note measures 5-1/2" x 7-1/4".
Like all vintage paperwork, there may be age spots, staple holes, etc. Please examine photos carefully.
We will include a logo card (4"x6") as shown below, which Mark will PERSONALLY AUTOGRAPH to the name of your choice with the nomenclature "original 1968 Freeborn Man Letters".
(Note: the "marklindsay.com" watermarks do not appear on the autographed piece.)
