*TWO ONLY* This is a long OUT OF PRINT 1990 CD release of the original recordings. Comes with 32-page liner note booklet which includes extensive interviews with all of the gang. Writer Bill Ruhlman received a nomination for Best Liner Notes of The Year for his gargantuan efforts. Between this booklet and the expanded interviews in the 1990 Goldmine Magazine Raider issue, this is as close as you'll currently come to a Raiders biography.

The 3-CD set includes 55 songs, ranging from the very early pre-Columbia days, to songs that were specially released on this CD after Mark brought his personal tape copies of the 1972 mixes (Chain of Fools, Tobacco Road, Angels of Mercy).  

Mark was personally involved with Sony Music on the project and insisted that they throw out the first master, since the label was using new digital gear and it sounded awful, with no bottom end. Despite his pleas falling on deaf ears for an interminable period, he finally prevailed and spent the week before Christmas up in the NYC studios after they added other gear, and worked on a new mix.

The version of Kicks on this CD is a unique one, since the label had to re-create what Terry did (he cut and spliced various loops with the best drum times), and they only found a track with Mark's tambourine picked up right next to Smitty's drum. Terry had asked Mark to help Smitty keep even time, and this is what it sounded like in the studio.
